  • 4.5/5 - Found Massage Matters on Yelp and decided to give this place a try since I saw all the positive reviews. Also the introductory offer was too good to pass up. I booked my massage online which was quite easy but I found that despite having a big team of RMTs, their evening appointments run out quickly. So book early! I had to cancel my first appointment day of and unfortunately got charged a 50% cancellation fee. Understandable since I reserved a spot. Luckily it was the introductory offer so it wasn't too bad. I rebooked with a 1.5 hour massage. I arrived to my appointment right on time and had to fill out a few medical forms. The office is off George St. and Adelaide and very nice. I love the exposed brick and how warm and inviting the office and rooms are. The male receptionist was very nice. Since it was my first time they offered a complimentary service. I chose cold stone facial massage. Onto the appointment. My RMT Sheena was fantastic. She did the preliminary questions, asked me to do a few exercises to see if there were other issues, and very professional. During the treatment I was so relaxed by the massage I may have fell in and out of sleep! She also relieved my headache while I was there. The cold stone was also a nice touch. The hot and cold towels on my face were also very lovely during the massage. The only reason I knocked off .5 off my rating was when I was settling the bill with reception she asked if I wanted to provide a gratuity. It threw me off a bit because usually places that provide treatments (massage or physio) never ask me. I understand if it's a spa then a gratuity might be given but not at a treatment clinic. They do look more like a spa vs. regular clinic so I'm wondering if I should have expected them to ask? However, because my massage was so great, I said yes and added a gratuity. I wasn't offended or anything I just felt a little weird about it. Although I live very close by to this location, I may go back or very well go back to my original RMT at a different location. I find them a little pricier than what I'm used to but the convenience factor of living nearby will probably lure me back. In addition, they do direct billing which is also super convenient!
