Many years ago I was introduced to Mediterranean food by a coworker and have been craving chicken schwarma ever since. Unfortunately the place I used to go to went out of business and I started looking for another place that offered it. I found The Greek Wraps years ago and tried their schwarma wrap sandwich. I was not impressed. Perhaps there's a difference between a Greek and Lebanese recipe it I didn't care for it and I didn't go back.
A couple of years ago my wife and I went to a Lebanese restaurant in Arlington, VA and they had amazing chicken schwarma. This made us want to find a restaurant near home that offers this dish.
The Greek Wraps is in a strip mall next to a Panda Express and a Jamba Juice and my wife asked if I knew anything about this place and I told her I had been there a long time ago and didn't like it. But she wanted to try it so we went and gave it a shot. Knowing the schwarma wasn't all that good I tried the chicken kabob plate. Wow! This dish is amazing, so full of flavor and it made up for the bad experience I had years ago.
When I find a dish at a restaurant I love, I don't usually try anything else. I did try the chicken kabob as a sandwich and while the flavor was the same, it was really messy, which was also the problem when I first ate here. Stick with the plate...if you think a sandwich will be easier to eat, you will be mistaken.
This is one dish I feel like I could eat unlimited quantities of. However, one entree is actually enough to feed both myself and my wife. The chicken kabob comes with yellow rice, hummus and pita bread, salad and a garlic sauce. It is a very satisfying meal and considering the amount of food you get it's a bargain. I have no desire to try anything else here because this is one of my favorite meals.
I do need to add that my wife hasn't been particularly happy with the quality of the chicken the last few times we've had this so am giving 4 stars instead of 5. I have no complaints however.
