We went to Carpe Diem recently while visiting my family in Charlotte. We were really excited to eat here based on all the great things Yelpers had to say. The décor was nice, but nothing really special and it seemed a little generic to me. The service was ok as well, but again, nothing special.
We started with splitting the Warm Goat Salad and it was pretty good. We also ordered the Beef Carpaccio, and again it was good but nothing memorable. We also ordered the Cheese Plate but it never came to the table and we did not mention anything about it. It wasn't on our check so either the waitress didn't hear us order it or she forgot to put it in. For the entrée I ordered the Filet of Beef and my wife ordered the Pork Chops which were the special the evening we went. Both were good and I really enjoyed the red beet gnocchi that came with the steak. My mother ordered the friend chicken and it was amazing...def. the best thing I tried.
Overall I liked this place but just don't agree with most people who seem to think it's as good as it gets. The prices on the menu are very reasonable for a fine dining restaurant so that is a definite plus. I also like that they source from local farms. I don't know that I would jump at the chance to come here again...but wouldn't be opposed to it either.
