| - Pappadeaux ended up making for a great night out!
Given it was $6.95 for a dozen Gulf Coast Oysters, my girlfriend and I did have to wait for about 30 minutes until we were seated. However after that wait, we were seated and quickly assisted by a kind waitress, who's name is passing me right now. She was a great waitress given she was attentive but not overbearing.
My girlfriend and I ordered the Gulf Coast Oysters as a starter and we're pleased with them. They came with horseradish, lemon, and a soy sauce garlic type of sauce. After scarfing those down, I ordered a bowl of Scrimp Gumbo and my girlfriend order mussels. The gumbo was good, but the broth had an abnormal flavor that I wasn't accustomed to. The mussels; however, were excellent. They were in a white-wine garlic sauce that was topped with parsley and lemon. For dessert we thoroughly enjoyed and shared a glazed creme brûlée with berries, that was also excellent. Through and through, with an exception of the gumbo, the food was 5-Star.
Shortly, the atmosphere was similar to an average creole restaurant. Given the Cubs were playing the Indians, the bar was packed and quite loud. The fun laughed and formally dresser servers makes for a romantic atmosphere.
With all of this being said, Pappadeaux is a great place to eat at for creole and seafood.
4.35 Stars.
