  • You don't come to Fry's to expect spectacular service. You come to Fry's to get your stuff and get going. If you need help with choosing your stuff, I suggest you go somewhere else. Although, despite all of that, Fry's does provide very competitive pricing for almost all of their items. I used to love coming to Fry's to shop and to look around. Alas, those days are over when I'm the one who's actually paying and getting a dash of attitude along with it. I signed up for Fry's deals so they will send me a promo code each day. With these promo codes, it qualifies you to their sale items, and with it they also pay sales taxes on selected items. My husband and I have been wanting a bigger TV for a while now and we had our sites set on the Samsung UHD 65" TV MU8000 series. We saw it one time when we were browsing for a TV and ... everyone had it for sale two weeks before Black Friday. Costco, Best Buy, and Fry's had it for $1279.99. Except ... Fry's has it with the promo code which qualifies for us to take it home tax free! The guy who helped us, who turned out to be the department manager, gave us a "better" promotion. He would give us the TV for $1269.99 with a two year warranty. He didn't specifically state that I could not get it tax free so by the time we went up to the register, my promotional code would not work. I explained to the cashier that it says it on the email that Fry's would pay sales tax on select items. Of course, before I could finish explaining, the cashier next to ours piped in with, "Yes, SELECT items." No shit, buddy. Didn't I just tell you that? So I explained that when I clicked on this miraculous thing called a link, it led me to a list of products that Fry's paid sales tax for and guess what? My TV was on there. Then one of the managers came over. I assume he was one of the managers over the cashiers. So I started my sentence again ... and once again, before I finish, this know-it-all pipes in with, "Yes, SELECT items." Like Jesus Christ, can you stop repeating after me? I know what I said and I know what select means. And even if I don't know what it means, you repeating after me isn't going to make me understand. Customer service 101, understand the situation before you assume your customers are idiots. Thank you. Come again. I snapped at him right afterwards. I said, "Can you PLEASE let me FINISH?" And again, I had to explain WHY I thought the way I did and of course, he just walks away. Rude much? What kind of manager are you? So the department manager that was helping us comes back and finally explains the situation. I could either get the promotion, which was TV and 2 year warranty for $1269.99 with tax OR get the TV as $1279.99 without tax. So I ended up taking the TV with the 2 year warranty since it seems to be the better bargain. I still did not like it -- especially being treated like an idiot by the cashiers. I mean, our cashier was nice...can't say the same for the rest. BUT the department manager did give us a nice hint. We could return the warranty at any time we want. It is in accordance with Nevada law. If you prepay the warranty for whatever amount of years, when you return it, they return it to you at a pro-rate. And that's exactly what we did because I was quite unhappy with their service. In doing so, it saved us a little bit of extra money on the TV. But don't worry, my brother also had a super bad experience with Fry's during their Thanksgiving/Black Friday sale. He reserved something online on Thanksgiving and because they're not open on Thursday, he had to go get it on Friday. Andddd I guess reserving it means nothing because when you get there, they send runners to grab your stuff. So if they already sold out what you reserved...you're not getting it. Overall, come here if you already know what you want to buy. Customer service is SUPER bad here. They act like they know everything but they really know nothing. I typically shop at Best Buy now and I think I'll just stick to Best Buy or Costco ... or Amazon .... Saving a few dollars isn't worth the frustration of being treated like an idiot.
