| - I stopped into Gio's the other day, expecting your everyday run of the mill men's haircut. However, what I got was anything but. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by friendly staff and made to feel welcome, as if I had been there many times (this was my first visit). The place was busy with activity and I felt the positive vibe created by all of the barbers and their clients. A gentleman by the name of Chris Saunders had just finished his previous client and was able to accommodate me as a walk-in, desperately in need of a cut. Chris asked me in detail what I wanted, studied my head and hair, and repeated what I had said back to me, just to make sure we were on the same page....and then he went to work. He was skilled at multi-tasking, carrying and holding a conversation on many topics, while he methodically followed every detail of the instructions I had offered him. I was also impressed that this "barber" asked me if I wanted my hair cut with the traditional barber's clippers, or with scissors. I chose the scissors, then sat back and marveled at the precision and skill he demonstrated with his tools. It seemed to me that Chris was the best of two worlds...both a barber and a stylist. And my favorite part??? The straight razor shave. It was smooth, no cuts, burns, or even a single bump the following day. Chris has mad skills and I give him and Gio's at 64th and Bell my highest recommendation.
