  • I used to come here all the time, so had to have Sushi Mon again while I was in town. The price has not changed and they still have the stamp card (10 meals, 11th free). For the most part, nothing has changed with the food. The reason I'm giving them three stars is because of the knife work on the fish and the inconsistency of the nigiri. Some of the fish, especially the four orders of salmon belly we got, looked like the chef took a box cutter to it. Horribly jagged cuts at weird angles that really changed the taste and texture of the fish. I usually really enjoy salmon belly since it has such a large fat content that it feels so soft and almost "melts" in your mouth. Not this time. The cut made the fish tough and stringy. We had similar problem with some other cuts. And it was weird that a lot of the nigiri were different sizes. The best thing they serve here is the grilled hamachi collar. Don't miss out on it! And get the salmon collar as well, even though it's not as good. We missed out on the salmon collar as they ran out around 5:30pm. Goyamon does not have grilled fish collars and instead has pork belly, so these fish collars are why we come to Sushi Mon instead. Few tips: -Their best nigiri is not on the menu. It's salmon belly nigiri with yuzu, a slice of lemon, and a slice of jalapeno. Ask for it and they'll make it. -You can order hand rolls too. Get a salmon skin hand roll. -The best apps are the calamari and the grilled mussels. Order lots of these. -Don't get the chicken skewer. It's always dry.
