| - Both of my children have attended McCormick Preschool from age 12 weeks until now - one is 2, the other is 4. We selected McCormick after vetting quite a few other schools, mainly because of the staff and the daily curriculum. The staff is WONDERFUL. They have been in this field for years and are (in my opinion) childcare experts. They helped me as a new mom through developmental changes, how to navigate transitions, advice on colds / coughs, and have always been accommodating to my family. Above that, my children adore these teachers - who don't leave after a year or 18 months. Many have been there for years, so my children have the same loving & caring people taking care of them - I don't have the added stress of my children constantly adjusting to new teachers. The school isn't full of 'frills' - but it's a safe, clean & wonderful place for your kids to learn & grow.
The infant room is what you'd expect, lots of cribs, toys, tummy-time rugs, and other developmental toys. I breastfed both of my kids and the staff there was great about it - no issues there. The staff there was SO great with every transition and talking with me (sometimes a few times a day) if I had a concern about my babies or questions.
Starting in the 1's room kids have daily arts & crafts, music, circle time, book time, recess in an age appropriate area as well as special celebrations, visits from the library, visits from the 'music man' and even learn Spanish.
Once they get to the 2's, they continue with everything from the 1's, but they really start to make leaps and bounds as far as vocabulary & other learning. Oh, and the teachers basically potty train your kids for you, which is AMAZING.
When they hit the 3's the learning continues, setting them up for the 4's room / preschool. I've been impressed with the variety of activities for the kids, mixed with learning / free time / outside time.
When picking a daycare for your kids, it's important to always remember that it's a partnership between you and the caregivers. I have spoken up anytime I had a concern about my kids, their behavior, their learning, etc. The school has ALWAYS worked with me to find a resolution. As a result, I can go to work daily with confidence that my kids are well cared for - which is PRICELESS.
Picking a daycare for your kid is incredibly personal - so don't be shy to ask questions and investigate until you feel confident. I did & am SO happy with McCormick Preschool.
