| - This place used to be good...Great even! Going here was a treat and a family outing because it's kindof far from our house. But for about a year now, the food has gone down hill a little bit. the past 2 times we've been here the roux has been burnt!!! Is anyone else picking up on this?? My Grandma who was born and raised in Louisiana and has cooked creole food for years says she thinks they've switched to pre-made roux from a jar. Either that, or the chef doesn't know what he's doing. When we went several months ago, she ordered a big bowl of the seafood gumbo, I ordered a small cup. Immediately she said it tasted burnt and sent it back. I sent back my cup as well and had the lobster bisque, which is always excellent. We thought it was just a fluke or an off night, so when we went a couple weeks ago, she steered clear from anything with roux, but my lunch order came with a cup of seafood gumbo...Once again, it tasted burnt to me...so that was the last straw. Something is off with their roux and thats twice now, spread months apart..Maybe they HAVE switched to store bought roux...who knows. I wouldn't expect a restaurant of this caliber to do that, but something is definitely off with their roux. If and when we go back, I'll steer clear of it and just order something else.
