  • I woke up Thursday morning to a warm house. Not a good way to start the day in the middle of July in the Sonoran desert (Goodyear, AZ). After commuting to work, I searched Yelp to find someone in the area that could help. Cooler Tymes had good reviews and more importantly, answered my call. I was hoping there was an appointment available by Friday. I was greatly relieved to hear they could come out right away. I had an hour drive to return home. Mike from Cooler Tymes said he had someone walk up while refueling his truck with an air conditioner problem that they could not find a company that could come out same day. He fixed up that problem while waiting me. From the symptoms, Mike thought my problem could be simple. Unfortunately, he found the compressor was shorted and the house breaker tripped. He described what he was doing and what was found at each step. After a discussion of options, I elected to purchase a replacement system. The failed AC was original with the house and over 12 years old. There was a day delay to deliver the equipment and for me to have a friendly visit with my credit union loan officer. Install was scheduled Saturday morning. Mike called Friday night to let me know he had a emergency call out and would have to delay my install until Saturday afternoon. I don't have small children or elderly in my home so while uncomfortable, my issues don't come close to being called an emergency. Mike and crew showed up as rescheduled at 3 PM Saturday. First issue was the attic access was 1/2 inch smaller than the unit. It took about five minutes to remove the trim and make room. Four guys disappeared into my 120 degree attic. There was all kinds of banging, sawing and assorted other noise. Pretty soon, parts of my old AC and furnace started coming down the ladder. After a greatly deserved break to rehydrate, they hauled the new equipment into the attic and within two hours the install was complete. These guys are truly amazing. Mike is former Navy and I enjoyed swapping sea stories from my service. He handed the job off to Roger to respond to new service requests (pleas for help). Turns out Roger is former Army infantry. In addition to an interesting discussion about his service, I found Roger is a perfectionist when wiring and testing my new AC. I greatly appreciate the quick response, communication as the project progressed and quality equipment recommended. My old AC outside unit sounded like an airplane engine starting up. The new outside unit fan is the only thing I hear when it's running. All guys in the crew were friendly, professional and very good at what they do. Thanks Mike - this was an impressive job.
