  • First off, I would like to say that I've never written a negative review for any type of establishment. I've worked in the service industry for awhile and believe a lot of "bad service" can be attributed to misunderstandings between the guest and the employee or extenuating circumstances. That being said--the behavior of this staff definitely warrants a bad review. My friend and I were in Pittsburgh on St. Patty's Day. We were staying at a hotel by Carson Street and decided to grab a drink around 730 pm . Twelve was the first place we stopped. When we got there, the bar was almost completely empty except for a gentleman sitting at the end of the bar and one table of four sitting in the corner. There was a dark haired female bartender on duty. My friend and I sat in the middle of the bar. We waited there for a couple of minutes. The bartender passed us multiple times without greeting us or offering us a drink. We assumed she was just busy until she settled down and started talking to the man at the end of the bar and eating Dairy Queen. While she was flirting with this guy, we waved at her and tried to get her attention. She looked at us multiple times and kind of laughed/smiled, but never came over to say hi. She just kept talking with the man at the end of the bar, serving him, and eating her DQ. Finally after about 10 minutes of being blatantly ignored, my friend and I decided to try our luck elsewhere. Right as we were about to get up and leave, a man walked in and sat down at the end of the bar closest to the door. The bartender put down her DQ immediately after seeing him walk in, walked across the bar and past me and my friend, and greeted the man, asking him if he would like a drink. At that point, my friend and I just left without trying anymore. I'm not sure why the two of us would be blatantly ignored in an empty bar, but it was probably the worst service I have ever received. From what we could see, this bartender probably just ignored us because we were female and didn't expect much of a tip. She certainly took care of all the boys in the room. Just some advice, Twelve--if you want to make money and remain in business in general, you should probably show potential customers at least the minimum amount of respect and service. And also advice to potential customers---South Side is an awesome area with TONS of friendly bartenders, affordable drinks, and good food. If you're thinking about stopping in here for a drink, I would definitely reconsider and just walk a little farther up the street.
