| - SECOND AMENDMENT TO MY REVIEW:
The owner was determined to make me happy! She is sweet and understanding. We came up with a plan that will make me very happy. The owner and instructors are really great. You don't see many people in businesses that care so much about your experience and happiness. I would definitely recommend going here.
FIRST AMENDMENT TO MY REVIEW:
The owner contacted me with great offers to get my painting right. So, I am adding a star.
REVIEW
I am referring to the "Paint Your Pet" class. (I cannot speak to any of their other regular painting programs.)
First, I would like to say that my sketch (of my cat) and teachers were very nice, encouraging and seemed experienced. The facility was also clean and inviting...thus the first two stars.
The idea of the class sounds absolutely wonderful. Who doesn't want to make the perfect painting of their Own loved pet?
The problem I had with this class is the allowance of only three hours to paint that favorite pet. It is too complicated and difficult for 3 hours. I do not believe this is a problem in other classes.
It seems to start off at a very nice pace. Painting the eyes and the nose with instruction and giving you the time to get it just right. That first part takes up a huge amount of time, relative to the rest. It is very worth the time, and mine came out nice. Worth the allotted time. (Yet, was somehow too long for a total of 3 hours.)
Once you just start trying to paint their face and the rest of the fur the next thing you here is "I don't want to alarm you, but you have one half an hour left."
At the 30 min left mark, Personally, at this point I had only finished Eyes Nose and most of the ears. I panicked, and started to fill in the rest of my painting the anyway I could, given the time constraint. I looked at what I had done, and was so disappointed. I SPOILED the decent work I had begun so carefully. I was disappointed and sad.
They did mention about then that there is a free 2 hour SOS class that we could sign up for to finish or fix our paintings. By that time, I felt like my painting was too hurried, the good bits ruined and beyond saving, even with two free hours.
The time pressure ruined the experience for me. The whole experience went from enjoyable, to a fun night out, to rushed and disappointed. I went home not happy.
I doubt anyone trying this on their own, even with experience, could do their bext work on a pet in three hours.
Here is my suggestion to future painters...for those trying for the first time or want to take tjeir time to get it right, just count on the extra 2 hours another night.
My Suggestion for the staff and MANAGER/OWNER of Painting with a Twist, Please restructure this class into an achievable project!!! Perhaps, a weekend class. Or
Stylizing (into easier blocks of color or something else stylistically faster/simpler) might be a way to get it to fit in less time.
Your ads and staff make it seem so achievable. But this one was difficult.
The bottom line is that no matter how great your teachers were, this is a hard one for ypur clients
