| - This is the second Cobra Kai Jiu Jitsu location in Las Vegas, also known as Cobra Kai Jiu Jitsu South (formerly Sono BJJ). Sonny is still an instructor at the location.
I have trained at both locations and can vouch for the quality of instruction for both. Cobra Kai Jiu Jitsu South is a small, intimate facility. The benefit is detailed instruction and a close family feel. The vibe is super chill, and everyone is very friendly.
As a newbie to this location, everyone was very welcoming. All the students were giving me fist bumps and introducing themselves from the moment I stepped into the gym. Everyone also says their goodbyes. Rolls were competitive, yet respectful. No egos. No going ham. I think this is great for improving skills.
It's an all white motif - white walls, white mats. So I believe it is just good policy to bring white gis (helps keep the mats clean).
Sonny is an exceptional instructor. Friendly attitude with fine attention to detail and creative techniques. Also, as it is now a Cobra Kai gym, additional instructors will be teaching at the facility.
At the moment, adult classes are 7-8:30, meaning warmups, instructions and plenty of time to roll.
This school also has a spectacular Kid's program. Many of these children have been dominating their brackets at the local tournaments, as well as, placing medals at IBJJF Kids Worlds, etc. I believe they will start expanding their Kids MMA instruction as well, with Coach Eddie Yagin (former UFC fighter). Coach Eddie is a father himself, great with the children, and well-experienced as a fighter and a trainer.
More updates coming soon...
