For a free museum, I was very pleasantly surprised by the Chazen Museum of Art. For the most part, I expect free museums to be on the smaller side...similar to the size of the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art. When walking around the second floor, that's the feel I got. However, upon ascending the stairs to the third floor, I realized just how big the place is and the extent of the art on display there.
There are a lot of spectacular pieces there, some of which I had to spend some time examining to feel like I really took it all in. Before I knew it, it was already 5pm and the museum was closing. I didn't even have time to finish exploring the third floor. I look forward to the next opportunity I have to finish what I started and to see what new pieces they have on display.
