  • Came in to meet with Mom and a realtor (who had offered to buy us drinks). By the time I fell in line to order, it was almost 5 pm. There was only one guy working. While I waited for Mom to arrive, I noticed that were either no one waiting in line, or the line was four or more people. I felt bad for the lone young male employee. Chairs were in disarray all over the store... I asked him what kind of lemonade went into the iced tea lemonade. I asked, because some restaurants and cafes use Minute Maid, or some other type of fountain lemonade, and I know of certain brands contain corn syrup and even aspartame (from online research and from making phone calls). He told me that a boxed concentrate is used, so I asked if I may read the ingredients. It contained just lemons. No added sugars and preservatives-- NICE! I also asked to know more about the "sugar-free mocha," and if that can be used to make a sugar-free mocha frappuccino. He said he "just ran out of sugar-free mocha," but he could use less of the regular mocha syrup to make the final product less-sweet, so I asked for a tall mocha frappuccino, less-sweet, and a tall iced tea lemonade, made with green tea on one ticket, and the last almond croissant on another ticket. Oh, and may I get that croissant** heated up? There was a long wait, because a line had formed behind me (and no, most of the questions I'd asked were answered before the line started behind me, thank you). If you are looking for something light and refreshing, I definitely recommend the iced tea lemonade! It didn't even taste like it was sweetened, which I very much appreciate, as I already had enough sugar in the almond croissant. (Have a bite, or two, and sip!) I even enjoyed the drink's flavor after my sugar supply (almond croissant) disappeared. Mom tried a sip of my drink and found it too tart, but then again, she'd been sipping her sweet mocha frappuccino, so anything less-sweet than the frappuccino will seem too tart, or bland. The young man was patient and helpful with my questions, despite having to work alone and deal with long lines of people from time to time. I do feel that there should be at least two people working, so that it isn't only just the one working the counter by himself. The other may keep the chairs from disarray and wipe down the furniture and help keep the work areas behind the counter clean. Also, ingredients should be kept in stock! **The pastry was OK- flaky and even had crunchy edges. (I wonder if Starbucks uses a toaster oven?) However, I had a slight headache soon after eating, which I normally get when the food item contains corn syrup or cornstarch. If I were to have more of the offending allergen, I also break out in a rash (face, fingers, arms, legs, and/or at joints) and may present with other symptoms. I'll most likely not order the item again, but did want to report that it was good!
