| - Looking at the reviews here on Yelp you might not be so sure about going to Lakewood Tire Pros & Auto Service. Why? Because the few that are 1 stars talk about how some items they were quoted on were quite expensive. Lets face it, no one wants to hear that they should spend $1,000+ on repairs when all they brought it in for was a couple of new tires.
What I can tell you about Lakewood Tire Pros & Auto Service is this: They will do it by the book every time. Can you find a cheaper place to fix your car? Probably. Is it possible that you could drive your car without replacing a part that is worn? Maybe, sure, you did drive it there. Will it be safe? That's open to your interpretation. Bottom line is that if these guys recommend that a part is replaced/repaired you can be certain that doing so will prolong the life of your vehicle and help to prevent future issues.
I recently purchased a new-to-me truck (2008 Ford Ranger). Boy oh boy did I not know what I was getting myself into. This truck needed everything... and to top it off, there was this high speed vibration that was intermittent. I paid a different shop $80 to tell me that it was a bent rim (it wasn't). I had a good friend of mine drop the drive-shaft and inspect the u-joints. Thanks to Lakewood Tire Pros I now know it was the rear brake cylinders sticking to some warped drums.
What I have learned is that the most important thing when dealing with problems like this is to remain calm and just explain what is happening. Explain the problem and, if you can, offer to take a technician for a test drive so they can be certain exactly what problem you are describing is resolved before you receive your vehicle back. Not once did I feel like they were trying just take my money and let me leave with something that I was not happy with.
Icing on the cake was Tom. Tom was willing to explain each and every little detail to me. I now know much more about u-joints, drive shafts, drum brakes, and my rear differential than before... probably more than most people care to. This information was FREE and Tom did not have to spend the time that he did explaining these things to me. But, he did!
Do your car (or Truck!) a favor and take it to Lakewood Tire Pros.
Also, I failed to mention that because my repair was going to take some time they provided me with a 100% FREE loaner vehicle.
