  • Still dreaming of the beef brisket with bone marrow I devoured last night, my taste buds are at a loss today because nothing I have around compares to it. The pure decadence of the brisket with added bone marrow (totally worth the addition in case I haven't made that clear yet) almost seemed sinful to eat. Thank goodness the chef threw some fingerling potatoes and other traces of veggies in there to help absorb some of that gluttonous feeling. The sea urchin risotto came a close second in taste happiness. Don't worry, there wasn't plump sea urchin chunks all over the risotto. The pieces were small and mixed in well along with mussels, clams and tomatoes so they all complimented each other well. The lamb belly had the tiniest hint of gamey just so that you knew you were not eating your typical meat fare of beef or pork, yet it was prepared so well that it was very enjoyable. Tender and fatty as expected and of course flavorful! The pork belly on polenta with tomato agrodolce was really good. It had very potent flavor. I don't know if it's possible but I almost tasted a tartness to it especially after eating the beef brisket and bone marrow. It was hard to have this follow the brisket because it was like a B list act following an A lister. Really good but you're still left longing for the other. Under the antipasti section, the yellowtail and the ahi were both so fresh and tasty! I couldn't really discern the pistachios in the ahi mix but I really enjoyed it. I couldn't tell you what the yellow tail ingredients were but I liked it even more. Just kidding, I Googled.. controne (Italian hot pepper), Bottarga (Italian delicacy of cured fish roe), iitois (looks like a green onion). These ingredients really brought out the finest qualities of the yellowtail. Now outside of the food, Crudo is very charming, tucked away behind a lot of greenery on the back side of an old business mall in between The Market by Jennifer and a crossfit gym (or box). The French doors make it seem like you are in the country side. The staff is very warm and welcoming. I chose Crudo because we were celebrating my mother in law's birthday and I indicated this on OpenTable so Crudo gave us complementary champagne upon arrival to toast! We ordered from the tasting menu sampler where you get to chose 3, 4, or 5 items from the anti pasti, pasta, and secondi categories. My hubby and I are always Go Big or Go Home types so of course we indulged with the 5 selections for $60. Our waitress explained that portions would be a little smaller to allow for more tasting room and the dinner would be longer. She wasn't kidding, since we were there for 3 hours. Only one slight mishap occurred. Everything was going swimmingly UNTIL I ate my 4th course (the brisket with bone marrow) too slowly and they didn't want to rush me so since my hubby and his dad finished their 4th (the pork belly), they brought out the 5th course to them and forgot to bring mine out. Once our waitress found out, she was so apologetic and I soon had my pork belly but by then everyone was done eating. I don't think they could've eaten more even if she did bring plates for them to share that 5th course. Overall, it was a wonderful evening and Crudo was a great place to celebrate a birthday! My in laws found the menu a tad confusing at first but our waitress was good at explaining our options so crisis averted. Crudo is definitely as expected, a modern take on Italian classics! Their cocktails were very good as well!
