| - I don't know about the reviews that said this spa was "small," because it was the largest one I had ever been in, and that makes all the difference not to be crowded and stressed. There were plenty of lounge chairs in the relaxing waiting room. Just bundle into your comfy robe and doze until called for your treatment. Different rooms have different music, and the waiting lounge music sounded like the gentle sort of asian/new age fusion music that we heard when we saw KA, MGM's Cirque du Soleil show, the night before.
The steam and sauna were great, and I liked being able to go to the pools outside and have the option of using the workout room. In doing MGM's Prima promotion (put $500 on your room to use during your stay) admission was free, and really the best thing about Prima now that the ther perks have been gutted. Otherwise pay a day use fee to use the gym and spa, or get it free when you book a treatment and spend a lot of time there. They have every amenity you need, and some you didn't even know you needed, such as the cucumber slices and iced face towels you can put over your eyes. The people who did my services were super nice. I felt relaxed and well taken care of. With fruit, trail mix, juices, and water, you will not starve if you stay all day.
I liked the relaxing colors and materials. It was not over the top lavish like the pictures I've seen of some other Vegas spas, but more zen/earthy.
Update: At check-out this morning I had them print out our charges, and there were $75 in use fees although it was supposed to be free with Prima. The gal at the front desk said that happens all the time. So be warned! You'll have to budget the time to check and have them reverse the charges if this happens to you.
Basically, this is a problem with the front desk where you check in before going either to the gym or the spa, but I don't know if it's stupid girls or a system failure. The girls at the spa desk once you get into the women's spa aren't the greatest either. Geoff said the guy on the men's side was very nice and offered him juice, but the girls will not go into the spa and offer you anything or even clean up the juice cups from the waiting area - I noticed they piled up throughout my stay, and when I had to go up to the front to ask for hot green tea she had me stand there and wiat in my robe instead of saying she'd bring it to me when it was ready. But once you actually get into the spa it is great, I don't think it's enough to change my star rating, but almost.
