| - I was really excited to come here for lunch, but left very disappointed.
We walked in and there was no hostess to be seen anywhere. We stood at the hostess station for a good long while before the bartender literally yelled at us to sit wherever we like. There was literally one person at the bar, and one table seated. The dining room we were in looked strangely like a wedding: cane back chairs, red tablecloths. We sat at the table for another long while, before my coworker got up and grabbed menus for us. My jaw literally dropped at the prices. Finally the waitress came over, obviously annoyed that we got menus for ourselves, and gave us the lunch menus, acting as though we would have missed some huge bargain had we ordered from the main menu. So I think, "Thank God, there are lunch specials. Maybe this will all be fine."
So we all look over the lunch menu, and notice that it has pretty much nothing with any meat. I believe one sandwich with bacon, and a sandwich of the day. It's marginally cheaper than the regular menu, because it is cheaper dishes! Like, basically the cheapest dishes a place could offer, and still all overpriced. And the one thing that might have been appealing, a half sandwich and soup item, you could only get the "sandwich of the day."
I ended up ordering the jerk chicken sandwich off the regular menu. I believe it was one of the cheapest sandwiches on the menu. For $14. For a grilled chicken sandwich. For lunch. I mean, it seemed like a better deal than a $10 grilled cheese...
The food took a long time. Of course. Once it came, it was good. Not great, but good. Smallish chicken breast, but I liked the toppings on the sandwich. It had a nice flavor but was exceedingly sloppy. The fries were really very good. Perfect, maybe. And plentiful. My coworker's salad looked good, but it was even more pricy than my sandwich and had even less chicken.
All in all, if you have plenty of money to spend, and over an hour and a half for lunch, you can get some good food. But for me, it wasn't worth the price, mediocre service, and long wait.
