| - We recently stayed at the Delano for the first time and it was outstanding. I come to Las Vegas for work and pleasure 10-12 times a year minimum and always stay at the four seasons (I bring my 2 dogs). I have literally stayed in every hotel on the strip and recently tried out Vdara as I heard great things about their pet friendliness as well.
My family and I stayed at Delano this trip (we didn't like Vdara at all) and were a little apprehensive as we are very loyal FS customers (We only stay at FS properties) and really don't like the atmosphere of Mandalay Bay. The Delano was wonderful!!!! It was an oasis amongst the craziness and really outstanding.
We get comped rooms everywhere and we are looking for pet friendly locations that are really "friendly" and not just advertised as so. Our casino host suggested we give Delano a try and it's our new favorite.
The hotel is immaculate in its cleanliness (we are neat freaks and germaphobes) and as soon as you walk in, the smell is very pleasant and has a wonderful spa quality to it. We loved the fact the hotel had plenty of quiet seating areas and is very compact vs walking for miles to get to your room, ice, casino etc.
Check in was very easy and they accommodated our request for a room close to the elevators. This is a must for my family with walking the dogs at all hours. You almost don't need to ask for that here as the hallways aren't that long. The front desk for was very kind at our requests (late check-in), speaking with our host etc) and the housekeeping was outstanding.
The room was really clean and updated. They could use double nightstands vs the one round table in the middle that doesn't function properly. Bathrooms were spotless and amenities were good.
A big part of the quality and care of hotel are not the concierge or managers. They tend to be the housekeeping, valet and greeters. These are the groups that get stuff done and we always request that our room be cleaned very quickly as we are waiting with our pets (I tell them not to vacuum and give them extra $$) They were all lovely and the only hiccup was valet misplaced my car and we were waiting for over 20 min and the gal in the valet stand was not pleasant nor helpful. Oh well....my car came eventually.
Back the pets; the grass and walking area was outstanding. It was cleaned every time we went out, disposable bags and trash cans always cleaned and it was really conveniently located from the main entrance. The Four Seasons grass is always well maintained and cleaned and we didn't know what to expect after Vdara (dead grass, sh*t literally everywhere and no one cleaning). We were nervous we would have to drive the pups over the FS to do their business (yes, we did that when we stayed at Vdara & Bellagio...and yes, we are nuts!)
Della's and the coffee bar were great for breakfast and snacks. And the sky fall was nice for a early evening cocktail. Service was very slow there but it was pleasant to hang out. Good to see Alaine Ducasse there checking things out (it needs some work). The family was happy to see him as we have to gone to his old place in NY and restaurants in Monte Carlo and Paris.
All in all, I am extremely loyal to FS hotel and staff but Delano could be a new favorite. Btw, already booked for 4 night in June!
