  • What I liked about Marriott Grand Chateau: Check-in was easy. Aaron, the gentlemen who checked us in, was super friendly and helpful. He tried to accommodate our wishes to be on a high floor with a view of The Strip. They lobby area is very spacious and nice. There is a Market Place to buy essentials, frozen food, and Starbucks coffee. All of the valet and bell staff were quick, efficient and friendly. They give you an info packet upon arrival that lists important phone numbers, fun things to do in the city, shuttle schedule, and an activities list by day. Most of the activities are actually pretty cool, even for adults. Daniela was around for most of the activities that I participated in. She was not only friendly and helpful, but she remembered me the other times she saw me and asked how my shows were going and how my stay was. She made me feel like a truly wanted guest. They had a decorate your own wine glass or shot glass class, a make your own bath gel or bath salt class, free wine and cheese tasting, bingo (when you win you get free drink tickets for the bar), magic and margaritas at the pool. There was something fun to do for me every day of the week and it was either free or only $5. The magician, Patrick, was actually pretty amazing. I was wowed while having some margaritas at the pool. They have security. Sort of a pain to have to show your key card in the evening but it does make you feel safer, and you'll need it for the elevator anyway. At least you know that no one is allowed on the elevators that isn't a guest at the hotel. The rooms themselves are pretty darn great. I've worked in hotels for 5 years and I've stayed in a lot of hotels. None were as nice as this one. Our accommodations really were fantastic and way better than I have at home. We had a 2 bedroom suite, both king beds, and both couches folded out into a bed. We could have easily slept 8 people. We had a full kitchen in the main room, a kitchenette in the 2nd bedroom, and a full living room and dining room table in our main room. We have a nice view of MGM Grand and Mandalay Bay from our living room. The master bathroom was awesome. It was a glass shower with 2 nice shower heads inside. Sweet! We also had an enormous bathtub and vanity area inside the bedroom. I used the bath salts that I made at the Activity Center in here for a truly decadent bath. Perfect for two people trying to get ready at the same time. The bed was amazing, but too bad I couldn't enjoy sleeping in it more. We even had a washer and dryer. It felt like home for a week and you are only 1 block away from the Strip. You get easy access to the Miracle Mile Mall at Planet Hollywood; it is right across the street. What I didn't like about Marriott Grand Chateau We were checked into a room that was right beside the construction. Construction starts at 7:45AM and that is just an ungodly hour for anyone trying to enjoy Las Vegas for what it is. I could hear the construction workers conversations and could watch them 5 feet from my window installing walls. We tried to move after our first night because it was really really awful. Seriously, the construction noise was terrible. I know it was necessary and I've worked in a hotel that was currently undergoing renovations. We always tried to accommodate the guests that complained about noise by moving them to another area. When we went to talk to the Front Desk about moving the following morning we had Holly. I can't believe she works in customer service. She obviously hates her job and doesn't even want to pretend to help people. Both times I came into contact with her she was unfriendly, unhelpful, and just generally complaining about something going on. She told us in order to move rooms we would have to contact our time share company. She probably could have moved us, and we even offered to pay the cleaning fee in order to do so, but she obviously didn't want to be helpful at all. We did receive a $25 credit at the Market Place for our trouble but I would have gladly traded that for just an hour more sleep a day. The construction was HUGE problem for us and why I'm docking at least one star. We also received NO housekeeping, not even the scheduled one we requested in our survey they sent us. Not even someone to come pick up the trash and dirty towels. We had to request towels to be sent up every day and by the end of the week the trash was a little crazy. Oh well, someone missed out on a big tip opportunity. I would definitely come back if I can avoid the construction and Holly at the front desk. The hotel and all of the other staff were truly wonderful and I'm hoping our experience was just a one time thing.
