| - We stayed here for our honeymoon in October (just getting around to writing this now). Overall, the hotel met my expectations as far as how it was pictured on their website. Very cool and different, which was what we wanted. Due to the time of year, it was in the quieter side, but didn't feel deserted, which worked for us.
The good: everything was clean and you can see the efforts are made to make everything feel up-to-date and convenient. Bed was comfortable and in-room complimentary products were wonderful. Landscaping and pools are beautiful. Interiors of hotel do a good job of balancing the old with the new. Love the nod to their story with historic pictures around the hotel. Conveniently located within walking distance of many restaurants and a convenience store, and the free trolley literally has a stop within 1 minute from the hotel. The food seemed on par with pricing in Scottsdale, and although not particularly memorable, was always very good. The spa experience (massage) was good and a good value.
What could have been improved: some small details. We had made prior arrangements for a fridge to be in the room(extra fee) and we had to ask for it to brought in when we arrived very late at night. A few things in the room including an outlet in the bathroom and a light did not work. Several of the pool chaises looked "tired" and damaged and needed repair or replacing. My parents had called ahead and paid for our stay as a surprise, explaining that it was our honeymoon. This was presented to us at the end of our stay. I was mildly disappointed that, the hotel staff knowing this, didn't put that extra touch (maybe a complimentary split of champagne in our room)? Although there was always a decanter of water with herbs and fresh fruit in the lobby, there was not fresh coffee or tea available anywhere. You had a mini single serve pot in the room, otherwise you had to wait until the restaurant opened at 8 and pay $3 for a cup to go. While hotel staff was always courteous, didn't particularly feel overwhelmed with service until we started tipping the valet guys heavily.
Overall, a good experience, just needed a few details to make it feel truly memorable.
