| - We stopped in for baked goods on a weekday morning and the cafe was pleasantly occupied but not too full. There were a number of scone flavors available, and three scones out to try - raspberry, almond buttermilk, and something with coconut. We were informed that the first and last were sweeter. The raspberry was a bit too sweet for me, as there was a glaze on the scone. The almond buttermilk had pretty big chunks of almonds throughout. We actually decided to get a lemon cream scone. It had a nice texture and density, but was overall still a little too sweet due to the glaze, even with the tart lemon flavor. So, the scones to me seem like something great if you want a fair amount of sweetness in a big baked good.
We also tried the morning bun, which was enormous. It was flavored with cinnamon and sugar, without any citrus component, which I appreciated. The sugar did not become caramelized at the edges, which I also liked. We had a mexican wedding cookie which I thought was spot-on.
I'd be curious to try the croissants and maybe the actual meals offered. Overall I was quite impressed with the selection of baked goods and friendliness, but not pesteriness!, of the employees. A shame day old goods are only 50 cents off, but oh well.
