  • This system and company are garbage. Second day of having the doorbell camera, some fool steals a package off my front porch and I get a motion notification 40 min after it happened. Now here we are 4 months later and I'm lucky if the doorbell doesn't have a "remote failure" error for more than 12 hours. I paid extra to have a garage door opener installed since I'm new to garage life and didn't want to accidentally leave my garage door open when I'm not home/sleeping. That was the biggest joke. They had to come out 3 times in the first month to "fix" it so I finally just asked them to uninstall it after paying $400+ in locksmith fees because I couldn't get my garage door open (I know, my bad for not having a spare key). Now for the actual alarm, which I pay extra for the alleged 2-way voice communication. I have tripped the alarm on accident twice. I never received a call or any sort of notification that the alarm went off. Just incredibly loud beeping. While I'm glad I didn't pay for false alarms, what happens when someone breaks in? I would say 50% of the time I don't have issues arming/disarming the house with the alarm.com app with up to a few minutes delay. The other 50% of the time, literally nothing happens. The arming icon will just flash forever. I frequently get "remote communication failures" and they conveniently happen when I'm out of town, which is when I need the security system the most. To top it off, the have ONE customer service rep. If you call after hours, you get routed to some 3rd party call center that is basically a human voicemail service...but your message will never successfully make it's way to Protection Source. Additionally, on two separate occasions the repair person (also only one repair/installation person at the company) didnt show up on the day he was scheduled. Don't let all these reviews fool you. Their sales people are clearly great at their job, tricking you into a 3 year contract with faulty equipment and zero service and getting you to leave a 5 star review before you figure out you were conned. Also, I literally never leave reviews.
