| - Cafe Darak is located in a nondescript plaza with a nondescript storefront.
Let's get this out of the way. I don't do coffee. Coffee is bitter. My mouth reeks of rotting corpses after I drink coffee. It's also bad for your teeth. It stains enamel. It causes tooth sensitivity. The only things I learned through my first year of dental school. Also, don't brush your teeth within 30 minutes of drinking any carbonated beverage. Also, don't drink carbonated beverages. To summarize, coffee is the devil's juice and should be banned in this great nation.
And that's my way of telling you that I'm a basic bitch who, when wrangled into visiting a coffee shop, only orders blended drinks. While Pinteresting. And wearing Uggs. Which are stored in large mason jars at night.
I got the mocha frap. It was fine, if a little bit on the sweet side. It was also over-blended, and devolved into a liquidy mess before I could finish, but the fact that blended drinks were offered at all was a win. During a recent trip to Seattle (my hometown!), approximately 100 of the 100 coffee shops I set foot in only sold coffee. What kind of nonsense is that? It's just plain silly.
Though the storefront is unassuming, what's contained within is magical. The VW van tent was the highlight of my day. I'm gonna go back and take a snooze inside next time.
To make this a legit review, I should tell you that my girlfriend said that the coffee was good, not over-roasted, and on the light side. Better than Starbucks, but she preferred Avery's out on the Westside.
