| - wow! my legs hurt. but that's the point, right?
i previously set up an account on their website (your 1st class is free...at least as of me typing this) which took maybe 5 minutes and scheduled my class after my spouse attended one last week.
i just finished my 1st class at cyclebar and i had a great experience. i walked in and the people at the front desk were incredibly friendly in guiding me through the check-in process, making sure i had the right size shoes for my bike (the shoes are free, BTW. other places i've been make you pay extra to rent them) and giving a quick tour of the facility. they have bathrooms & private showers along with lockers to safely store your things while you're burning calories. they provide bananas & apples as well as filtered water at room temp and chilled.
when you walk into the room with all the bikes, the cyclebaristas (i'm not sure if they're called that, i just made it up) again come to your aid to make sure your bike is set up properly for your height, etc. this can take a few minutes, one reason i highly recommend you get there at least 10 minutes before class starts if it's your 1st time.
our instructor was elaine and she was wonderful, too. she kept pushing us hard through the entire 55 minutes making sure we were hitting goals as a group and throwing some encouragement our way in the process. they have a screen that shows your stats as the class goes on, but you can choose to not have your name up there if you don't want it to. elaine would also turn the screen off to get us to focus more on our individual efforts rather than where we were in comparison to others in the class.
when the spin class ended, we were greeted at the door with the most wonderful delight. cold, peppermint-scented washcloths. after burning all those calories and sweating for almost an hour, it felt so wonderful to drape it over my face and just breathe. it. in. it is one of those little things that makes a huge difference. elaine, our instructor, took time to chat with each one of us as we were cooling down to see how we were feeling and get to know us a little bit.
cyclebar was a great experience. you should try it. and you just might see me there.
