  • So first of all, this has nothing to do with my hair. Alyssa did what I wanted, and it's perfect. My experience leaves me really with what I expected. You walk in, and it's super loud. For someone who has trouble hearing, communicating was a little difficult. And frankly it was too chaotic for me. I was a little late because of the snowy roads, but basically checked in, and was taken back. All I wanted was a flat iron. I didn't need a full blow out, and put that in my appointment notes. See, on the website, there isn't an option for that, or what they refer to as an In & Out. You have to book a blow out. This is where they get you. Well, sorry, but I'm not paying $45 to have someone wash my hair. That's more than I pay for a haircut at my regular salon downtown. $20 to have it flat ironed is way more my style. So when I go to check out, Alyssa brings me up, and says to them that I got an In & Out. I tip her, and she leaves me to pay. There apparently was a major drama (which I couldn't hear over the blow dryers) in what they should charge me. So finally the girl looks at me and says, "ok so it'll be $45 today." Um, no. No it won't. So (I assume) the manager is there giving me this big long explanation as to why I had to pay $45 for my service. Blah blah blah, you're holding appointment time, blah, an In & Out is just a last minute option, blah blah blah blah blah. So I just looked at her like she's crazy because none of what she said made any sense for the type of business it is. (I mean, you're supposed to turn people out like they're in a hair factory. You'd think she'd be glad my appointment didn't take an hour, but instead, 20 short minutes.) And I said, "But I didn't get a full blow out. I didn't have my hair washed, and I didn't have it dried. All I had was a flat iron. I shouldn't have to pay for what I didn't get just because there isn't an option on the website to book what I wanted, AND what I put in my appointment notes." So then someone else came over and gave the ok to only charge me $20. The receptionist apologized, and I said it was fine, I just didn't want to pay for something that I didn't get. So really, they only get 3 stars from me because of the job Alyssa did on my hair. I'm sure you're thinking, "It's just a flat iron. A monkey could do that." Yeah, but my hair is different, and it kinks in weird spots, and if you don't pay attention, you'll miss a wave or a curl or a crazy patch. So she did well, and I would go back to her, specifically. If it weren't for that, definitely a 2 or less based on an overall experience, and the attitude that it's totally fine to overcharge someone just because their service didn't take as long as others.
