  • This was our first time in this particular store and we were greeted by Sherry. She was very easy going and had a lot of knowledge. Our interaction with her was great and we felt comfortable working with her. I would rate her a 5 star. Unfortunately, the problem lies with the store manager, Pete. He talks down to his employees and is very rude to both employees and customers, us. He talked down to Sherry a few times when she had questions about leather we inquired about. She laughed along although you could tell she didn't appreciate being spoken to that way. Pete was full of information but harsh at times in his communications. We were considering purchasing, however, Pete told us he doesn't negotiate price, doesn't honor military discount, full price delivery, and blamed it all on corporate. The most shocking part was they never told us which leather "married" the model we were interested in. In other words, they never told us the standard leather that it came with. Instead they chose to only show us the upgraded leather which was $3,700 more than the included standard leather. The other interesting part was that they insisted on the Ultra Shield warranty even though we told them we weren't interested because of the many negative reviews on that product. They also insisted on us purchasing 2 leather kits for one sofa, loveseat, and a chair. Yikes, that's a lot of cleaner/conditioner at $45 a piece. That was very deceptive and not honest. He commented that we didn't look like we could afford to feed him so he needed to keep his job by not doing any discounts. We simply asked because stores that sell super expensive things have high margins to work with and we felt this product line qualified. Since La-Z-Boy has a sale EVERY single week, we asked if this one was the best (30% off). He answered that La-Z-Boy is getting rid of the good sales but keeping their pricing the same (high) in 2017. He mentioned that he doesn't like sales and La-Z-Boy would not be offering 30% or higher sales. We didn't believe him so we kept looking online at their site. Well a few months passed and we got a 20+15% sale, essentially 32%. After dealing with Pete, we decided to spend our $9k at the Flamingo store. We chose the Flamingo store and every employee we dealt with was nice, professional, and really understood our needs. BTW, Flamingo store not only negotiated a discounted price, they split the delivery fee and most important, gave a military discount. When you're in the premium level of goods you absolutely should have excellent customer service and not rudeness especially from a store manager who sets the tone for the entire store. We told the Flamingo store that we won't set foot in this Centennial store just to be spoken rudely to and it's a shame his employees have to put up with that for $12-$14 per hour wage.
