| - Reviewing a second trip to Eldorado, this time for dinner.
We made reservations for a weeknight, given that this place always seems to have a wait. Glad we did. Our table was already set up with waters and everything. Service was good throughout the evening. The teamwork showed.
Apps: The server asked if we wanted to start with chips and salsa. I knew based on reading ahead of time there was a charge, but they are cheap, so we said yes. The chips were light and crispy. The salsa was good. Not hot at all, but very flavorful. We also tried the Texas Torpedos (jalapenos stuffed with cheese, shrimp, wrapped in bacon and grilled). They were delicious! They were spicy, but didn't kill our more mild-loving friend.
I had perused the Yelp reviews to help with decisions, as the menu is focused, but large. I'm glad I looked ahead of time, so I knew how Eldorado does enchiladas. I actually was looking forward to this version, as it's not the typical, heavy "smothered in cheese" Mexican version (more like stacked taquitos with sauces on the bottom of the plate). Our table had the smoked chicken enchiladas, pork adobo and pork burrito. The corn tortillas had a perfect texture and were grilled til crisp. Flavors were all there and I didn't feel stuffed afterwards. I tried the pork adobo and it was awesome. Deep red sauce, tender pork and fresh avocado. Super flavorful and a large serving. I didn't try the pork burrito, but my tablemate said it was really good. Crisp on the outside of the flour tortilla, like maybe it was finished in the oven?
We each had a different cocktail (sangria, blazing saddle, honey ginger margarita). The honey ginger margarita was the real winner. I'd definitely order it next time. The blazing saddle was a bit too spicy for us to really enjoy as a full drink. Sangria was okay.
Overall, everything was really good. If you are looking for huge spicy flavors, you might be a little disappointed in the fare. The flavors were more subtle, but didn't dissapoint. After writing the review, I'm hungry again for those enchiladas and that honey ginger margarita.
