| - I was running errands and I happened to pass by the Great Greek. Earlier this week I went to another Greek restaurant that was just average, so I figured I would do a round 2 and hopefully score a better experience.
I did, but unfortunately not by much. From the outside it looks like a big place, but it is actually quite small with only a handful of tables to sit down at. It is very casual, and I suspect most people are taking their orders to go.
Surveying the menu, I decided on going for hummus, and Lamb Souvlaki with fries and a bottle of water. That turned out to be much more expensive that I thought for such a casual place. But if the food was great I can justify it.
My meal started with a greek salad (comes with the entree), and that was very good. Honestly, it was the best part of the meal. The hummus with pita bread came next. The hummus was good, much better than the last place. Creamy, with some whole garbanzos mixed in with some paprika and olive oil. The pita bread was nothing special, but worked for dipping into hummus.
Then came the Lamb Souvlaki and fries. The fries were very disappointing. It reminded me of my childhood when I would make Ore Ida Zesties freezer fries. The Lamb was cooked okay, but had very little seasoning on it. It just tasted like meat. It was good quality, but not properly seasoned.
A lot of this could be forgiven if it was properly priced, but as it is I wouldn't go back. While I was waiting for my food, three ladies went to order and there total was over $70. They were shocked and just left. So I think for this class of restaurant, the price is steep. But they seem to be doing okay, lol, so perhaps it is just me. :)
