| - This was so much fun! I had never been to an air show, but my husband had fond childhood memories of them, and my parents were in town, so it was a great day to spend a day.
Some tidbits:
--Shows throughout the day are awesome. In the literal sense of the word. Prepare to be awed.
--The early part of the show isn't super exciting, but get there early because it gets better throughout the day and you'll want good seats!
--Morning is when you'll want to go check out the airplane tours-- don't risk missing the F18 demo, the Army Golden Knights, or (depending on the year) the Air Force Thunderbirds or Navy Blue Angels.
--Airplane tours often have one line for a general walk-through and one to see the cockpit. Figure out what you want to see the most and use your time wisely.
--Bringing some hearing protection would be a good idea, particularly if you have little kids.
--Bring your own lawn chairs. Unless you pay for VIP tickets, but why bother when sitting on the grass is only a few feet behind, you're mostly looking up anyway, and general admission allows you to choose where you sit along the runway?
--Food and drinks are expensive. Bringing your own snacks is probably a good idea, but the rules are extensive so check online. And while expensive, at least the food is pretty good-- my lemonade wasn't worth $7, but my $10 pulled pork sandwich with tater tots was delicious.
--Tickets and parking are expensive, but on the other hand, considering you're getting 6+ hours of really good entertainment, $22/person isn't so bad. Pile four people into the car to save both on parking costs and leaving-the-lot-chaos.
--Getting into the parking lot is easy. Getting back out is a nightmare. Make sure your car isn't low on gas, use a porta potty before heading back to your vehicle, and relax because it might be a while.
Definitely recommended! If I still live in the area next year, I'll absolutely be back.
