  • Update: After posting this review, I emailed the owner of Red Hawk Realty. I received a phone call from him the very next morning, bright and early. Jerry was very helpful in resolving the issues I'd experienced and he also apologized profusely for the whole situation. Jerry worked with me to resolve my issues quickly and professionally. I ended up being credited the late fees mentioned in the review below, although there was some mixup with rent the following month (the late fees magically re-appeared, but Red Hawk quickly fixed it). Through dealing with Jerry, I can tell that he's a stand-up guy who loves his business and wants to serve his clients and their tenants as best as possible. I do feel that Red Hawk could improve when it comes to intraoffice communication, but pretty much every organization struggles with this at some point. Original review: On 4/30, I called because I saw a completely random charge on the online portal when trying to pay rent (their "Tenant Portal" does not allow partial payments). I offered to pay rent and let them sort the differences out later, and an employee named Melissa told me not to pay rent because it's harder for them to sort out an overpayment than it would be for them to reverse late fees. She assured me that the $61 charge would fall off at midnight, because they were transitioning between computer systems. I tried to pay on 5/1, and the charge was still there. I've had to call them multiple times per day, every day since, to get this figured out. I spoke to Barbara several times today. During one of those conversations she assured me that the $140 in late charges I'm now seeing were just applied automatically and I wouldn't be charged. She later called me back to inform me that the $61 overcharge I initially called about was because Red Hawk undercharged me when I paid my deposits. I said I would be paying the rent as soon as the late fees were removed from the Tenant Portal and was informed that I am actually on the hook for the $140 worth of late fees. When I reminded her that I was told to not pay rent AND she told me the late fees weren't going to be applied, she said that she couldn't do anything about but she would have Becky call me. Keeping in line with her previous track record, Becky did not call me back. I called back and surprisingly was able to speak to Becky, who told me that they record all of their phone calls, and that she would be listening to the calls I've made to determine whether Melissa ever told me not to pay rent. Becky even insinuated that I was lying about what Melissa and Barbara had told me, and to me that's a pretty serious accusation. Sidenote: All of the good reviews here are from investors and home owners who are paying Red Hawk to maintain their properties... It's no wonder they're happy, since Red Hawk keeps their pockets lined while giving renters the shaft. Shout out to Barbara and the GREAT team over at Red Hawk for motivating me to just buy my own home.
