| - I feel like with any bike shop (or any place really) the review depends on the person you associate with. So my review probably reflects more on the service I received.
I came for a free bike fitting, since I had purchased my bike at the bike show from D'Ornella's and it was included in the cost.
I assumed I would not be purchasing anything in this process - perhaps naive of me.
While my measurements were being assessed and changes were being made, Neil, the guy fitting my bike, began replacing items without actually asking me if it was okay. I hadn't intended on spending much money, and suddenly a $140 bike seat was being attached to my bike, and a piece to raise the handlebars. I understand that these were maybe preferred for my riding comfort, but had I been asked, I likely would have consented anyways. It was the presumption that really bothered me. It also bugged me that I was constantly "reminded" through the fitting that I was lucky to be getting it for free because he had a kinesiology background and most people paid a lot of money for this. Well, obviously anyone who purchased a bike at the bike show was getting it for free. So if he felt it was worth so much more than why offer it as part of the package?
Anyways, the good parts - the adjustments made to the bike were very helpful and it is now a more comfortable ride for me (though ironically I liked my old "too small" seat more), he took me on a short ride around the neighborhood to ensure everything was good, and I bought another part (my choice) that he installed for me. I was appreciative of the service but really feel that there could be a lot of improvements made in the customer service end of things. It's not likely that I would return.
