  • I am endlessly grateful to Ken Volk and his team! My review is SUPER tardy, but when I saw him on the news tonight, it reminded me I owed him an awesome review! 3 years ago I rented from a huge complex in N Phoenix off Sweetwater & 30th Ave. Within the first week of living there, a time period where I could have walked away from my lease (per their contract), I had parking and security issues. The office staff offered me a garage at a discounted rate, which obviously raised my rent. I was naive and accepted their offer hoping that would help. One week later, not only was it still not working, it was WORSE. Unfortunately, the grace period to leave my lease had passed and the office staff was less than friendly about my request to leave, telling me I now would owe them thousands of dollars to break my lease. I was desperate! They had nickled and dimed me and it had raised my rent. And to make matters worse, my first electric bill was erratic, as though someone had been stealing from my electric (I lived in a studio apartment above garages). Even SRP thought the usage was odd, since the next month everything was normal, but with no solid evidence or tampering with the meter, they couldn't help me, and of course the apartment management wouldn't do anything, not even respond to my emails. After some research, I found Arizona Tenants Advocates. My mother had flown into town and we went to meet with Ken and his associates. They told us what they could do to help and the cost was incredibly reasonable! They took care of all the legal aspects. I was so grateful for an advocate who knew the ins and outs of the legal rental system in Arizona!!! Before I knew it, I was out and in a much better rental situation. ATA & Ken Volk saved my sanity. They are fantastic and know what they're doing! I don't know what I would have done without them! Wait... Yes I do... I would have been harassed and sued by a corporate bully slumlord! They saved my butt and helped me get out of a horrible rental agreement where the landlord hadn't fulfilled THEIR part of the contract! I would definitely recommend using ATA and would definitely use them again if I am ever in another slumlord situation!
