  • BEWARE of Timbertree! If I could rate them negative stars I would. I rented an apt on March 15th and submitted the initial walk through paperwork that detailed everything that needed to be fixed on Match 17th. Well, the complex only showed me the model and not actual unit when I did the tour, so when I take possession of the unit id be living in, there are approximately 25 things that need to be fixed. Fast forward to April 28th and only one item has been addressed. So i go into the office and find out what is going on. Casey in the front office tells me that he did everything he could and it's up to management to fix the problem now. So on May 2nd, I never heard back from them and I go into the office again. Well now Casey doesn't wanna deal with me and my complaints and tells me to talk to the manager, Jessica. Well, she wasn't there so I told him I would be filing a 5 and 10 Day Request for Repairs per 33-1361 and 33-1324. They only came and addressed one or two things after I filed the papers. On May 15th, the 10 day period ends and per 33-1324 the lease is now terminated. On the 20th, I'm served a court date of today; which gives me less than two and a half business days to try and get everything together. At court, I tell the Justice of the Peace (remember, in Arizona, a JP is elected and needs to have no knowledge of the law whatsoever) this and he didn't seem to be familiar with either statute because he looked perplexed when I told him I withheld payment to search for a contractor to fix the issues, but after the 10 days passed decided I wanted to move because they're not going to address the stuff that I was told was going to be fixed when I moved in. Their attorney and the judge tell me this isn't a "rent strike" state, even though the statute says I can withhold payment of rent to search for a contractor as long as the landlord is properly served with notification, which I did. Their attorney told the judge that they didn't have to fix cosmetic issues, even though the air conditioner and mold were listed as issues. So now I have an eviction on my record which screws me over for years and this complex can keep lying to people and not fix anything when they say they will. Stay far away from this place.
