| - I really want to like this store as I'm a fan of shopping around and getting a bargain, but this is the second time we have considered A1 and been disappointed.
We were shopping for a sofa and lounge chair for our basement family room and had viewed items online prior to coming in. The woman that helped us was nice and very patient looking things up for us, but they had nothing in stock in their showroom that we were interested in. Wayyy too much of their store is big sectionals and not everyone wants a sectional! Half the items we were actually serious about were on the east side, or not able to be seen at all. When shopping for comfort, we definitely wanted a try before we buy. The woman wrote down styles for us to go to the east side, but frankly, with two other furniture stores next door, I'm not about to drive 25 minutes farther and run around town to another location. I feel that their main perceived competitive advantage is "best deal in town". They told us we could find something at Ashley we like and if they can get it they'll mark it down for us. We just didn't care to spend the time and run around though to do this and just wanted to stop in, try something out, and buy. Furniture shopping can already be so time consuming. Sometimes it's just nice going into a larger store with more variety.
I won't mention where we bought from, but a certain neighboring store always seems to have something for us in a lovely, no-nonsense environment. I hope that A1 can figure something out with better availability to customers. Or I know I'd appreciate a website that enables us to check online for which location carries which piece we are interested in so it's not a wasted trip to the wrong location. It currently doesn't allow customers to do that.
