  • Where should I begin.. not quite sure what to say firstly other than my experience at Desert Radiology was a fringing Nightmare!!! I had a biopsy appointment last week at the Palomino location. I was already leery of undergoing a biopsy being that I'd had a not so comfortable experience in my past state of Georgia a few years back. Now I've been to another Desert Radiology location before that one. This was only for my additional X-rays my Breast specalist requested that I have done before scheduling any more tests or what may have you. I sign in, the front desk staff was very alert and acknowledged all the people that walked in immediately. Once I get in the back, was instructed on what to remove and keep on by the back office employees. I then head into the holding area to patiently wait to be seen by the Radiologist that was "Highly" recommended by the young lady who'd called me a day before to make my appointment. Now I'm being called by the Radiology Tech, she introduces herself to me. We go in the procedure or exam room, where she explains my Lo-Rad Stereotactic Breast Biopsy Post Biopsy information to me. The technologists Kathy was "Awesomely Great!" Its when my request for a woman Radiologist went downhill, this Radiologist was seemingly knowledgeable to what was about to take place. I mean I wasn't as nervous as when I first walked in the Radiology center. Until I got on the flat table listened to both the tech and now the Radiologist has entered the room while I'm face down and one breast is dangling through a circular hole on the examining table. They both proceed to talk and ask me questions which is protocol and I was fine with all of this. But when the Radiologist began to perform removing some of my tissue to conduct the biopsy. She never asked or told me she was about to start actually suctioning or making an incision. I felt EVERYTHING!!!!????? I WASN'T NUMB at all!" I started swearing like a mad woman, forgot that my breast was inside this clamp. And literally already damaged myself even more. The HEMATOMA was just the beginning this gets more in depth. Well now, I'm in excruciating pain. The Radiologist, told the tech "Oh Shoot, She's Not Numb!" They were both trying to calm me down at this point but it took a few minutes. It seemed like 5 or 10 minutes but I know it was only 1-3 minutes just where my state of mind was at that particular moment in time. Nevertheless, now totally numb to continue with the procedure, after two more doses of lidocaine not sure how much epinephrine I had but I was very hyper that's for sure. They checked my pulse, and possible O2 level only because I'd asked. "Am I suppose to be feeling my pulse palpating in my throat?" The Radiologist said "This was normal, asked me "How did I feel?" I said "It feels like I want to burp or throw up." This was when she had the tech check my vitals. Now I'm praying continuously, rubbing my prayer stone throughout the alleged non-invasive procedure. Finally!! It's Over!! Well, I thought it was, the Radiology tech helped me to get up and make sure I wasn't lightheaded and able to walk on my own without losing my balance. She'd already did her last few films to compare from my previous X-rays so the Radiologist could see the biopsy that were performed. So, now I'm back in the waiting area, where all the women are that have procedures or are waiting to be cleared before going back to there normalcy in life. I see my technician looking in disbelief and kind of puzzled when she calls my name. I get up, she proceeds to tell me "The Radiologist Dr. M wants to see you for a minute. I don't disclose her entire name but I'll leave it as this just because I will be seeking to speak with a legal advocate in regards to my horrific experience. I'm back in the exam room, the Radiologist comes in. Sits in the rolling stool beside me, her head is hung down. Now I know she's not at liberty to give me my results only because she's not a licensed physician in that realm of expertise. And she's not my breast doctor, so she asked the tech to put my films back up on the screen so I can see. She asked me to walk alongside her so she could show me what it was she was talking about. I'm more nervous and getting more than anxious now. The Radiologist looks at the views on the screen and blatantly tells me she "FAILED OR DID NOT SEE THIS VIEW." And needed to go back in to complete the BIOPSY.. now I'm FLABBERGASTED, and DUMBFOUNDED. I couldn't believe what this woman was saying to me. I told her "You will not go back in me with a now HEMATOMA." Are you mad? What was she thinking? I was infuriated, in agony, and just mad as hell. I asked her "How'd she miss that area in plain view or sight? To be continued..
