| - Been going here for 18 months. Mostly good...
PROs
Lots of workout equipment. rarely have to wait for anything, and when I do, it's mostly because my fellow customers are hogging it, often by just sitting and resting on one piece of equipment, or 'reserving' it for another round of reps by sitting on the equipment for 10 minutes
Place is generally clean, well, lit, and well-maintained.
Generally open when I want to work out (except early on weekends)
Trainers are good.
On long-term contract, price is good.
Atmosphere is good. Patrons range from gym rats and muscle guys to older people doing rehab and people trying to lose weight and get fit. No sense at all of feeling intimidated.
You are able to use LA Fitness gyms elsewhere, free or for a nominal fee. i travel quite a bit, and this has been a great benefit
Handy location on the east side, lots of free parking
CONs
The music and instructions in the spinning class are SO loud that you can't hear music being piped into your own ears through earbuds, even at the furthest section of the gym. I (and others) have complained, and they do nothing about it. they will end up getting sued by people in the spinning classes who have lost hearing (it is THAT loud..)
For a while, they often ran out of towels, especially on the weekend and Monday mornings. many of the towels are threadbare and need to be retired. Seems better lately.
When you are considering joining, they put on a pretty hard sell, especially on training. I've been glad to have signed up, though
