  • We purchased both the health insurance and wellness plan. We were told that with the wellness plan that just about any care for the dogs like flea/tic medicine, dental cleanings, bathes, nail trimming, etc would all be reimbursed. We took the dogs in for dental cleanings and since they had to have exams we asked for the calming medicine that we use for when we travel long distances. It wasn't like we took them in for an illness or accident. We submitted the receipts on 1-19-17. Apparently the dental cleaning receipt did not upload and they denied reimbursement for the sedative medicine which sounded like it would be reimbursed under wellness plan coverage because she said that they consider sedatives for traveling to be under illness or accident. Our dogs are neither ill nor have they been in an accident and I do think it's a bit ridiculous that it isn't considered wellness since it simply calms them for riding in a car. If they aren't ill or injured then it really should be considered under wellness care. By listening to the woman sell me the wellness package it sounded like anything that was not illness or accident related would be 'wellness'. So far we are not off to a good start in being impressed with this company. It's not as if it was even a big bill for the sedatives. It was $63 for both dogs for use next time we decide to travel which may be in a few weeks. I paid for the better wellness and ins plans too. How nice for them that when they consider sedatives for traveling under accident and illness that it makes it non-reimbursable due to the deductible being higher than the small cost of the pills. Geez. Update: Today, 1-27-17, I called Embrace and spoke with Christine. I let her know that I was checking on the claims that I submitted on 1-24-17 as I hadn't received any status update on it. Chritine could not locate the receipts I submitted. I let her know that since their website was having issues and I was unable to upload the receipts directly to their file like you normallly would, she had me email the claims to them instead. However, she could not find the email. She told me to resend it to her direct email and then she would make sure it was attached to the file for processing. She said she would send me a confirmation email when it was attached. After I spoke with her I re-tried to upload the receipts directly to Embrace and it did go through this time. That is a good thing because I got a returned email notice saying that the email address she gave me was not a correct email address so it was returned to my inbox. This is only the second time I have tried to submit a claim for reimbursement and so far it hasn't worked well. From my experience so far, it doesn't appear to be nearly as easy to be reimbursed as I was told when they sold me the insurance.
