  • I'm shocked how I have 8 friends on Yelp who rated this 5 stars. Maybe I went on a bad day?? I've been wanting to try this place for a long time since it was highly rated by friends, but unfortunately it was a disappointment. It was a 40 minute drive from my house one way, so for driving that far for food it better be good. A friend and I ordered for 2 couples and we spent $80. I think that is pretty high to feed 4 people for this casual of a restaurant where you order at the counter and sit down to wait for your food. I would be fine with the price if the food was outstanding. Let me start with the positive-garlic knots. They were amazzzzzing! Everything about them I loved, they were perfect. Now on to the not so good-the pizza Carnivore Pizza-this pizza had a pretty good taste (and I hate tons of meat on pizza). It was greasy. I would never order this kind of pizza on my own but it was for my friend's hubby and my hubby. I ended up eating a slice of this one because I disliked the one I got. 5 cheese pesto- I love pesto and I love different kinds of cheese, and I love when I order this pizza at most other pizza restaurants. What happened? The taste was bland, how can pesto be bland? The pizza was so overcooked that the crust had a crunch to it. Not a slight crunch but a crispy cracker fall apart when you bite it crunch. I like when the cheese is gooey and soft on a pizza, but this was hardened if that makes sense and all the cheeses became one taste. The whole pizza was a no go for me or anyone in my group for that matter. The pictures on yelp of this pizza look soooooo different than what I got, so I assume our pizza was just overcooked. We also ordered a slice of pizza that was around $8, can't remember the exact cost but I thought that was steep for one slice. She wanted the white anchovy pizza and it looked like fake pizza when it arrived. The plastic food look. It was weird. I think they had a slide of cheese that they had maybe baked earlier in the day and put 2 anchovies on top and maybe one other topping, but the toppings were sparse and since it obviously was not made as a whole pizza and baked with the toppings, it did not have a really unique taste since the topping were just placed on top. I like the idea of being able to order one slice of pizza of the one you want, but for the price this is too high and the pizza did not seem freshly made. Looking back, I was trying one of the chef's specialties because I thought those would be the best. I always like to try the basic specialty for my first time before I go ordering something different at a restaurant and customizing it to what I want. Maybe I should have just customized in the first place. My friends at the next table ordered the Pork Reigns and this was a greasy greasy pizza-did not like. We ordered the Bruschetta with burrata (sounded soooo yummy) and paid for it, then the guy who took our order came up to us and said they don't have it. We got a different appetizer that was bread with a salty salty spread that I could not eat due to the high salt factor. My other friend ordered an octopus salad that I tried and did not like, and neither did she or anyone else. She said it was rubbery and tough. What also irritated me was the guy who took our order came to our table and started quickly cleaning up and grabbing things and grabbed the garlic knots in a flash before I could say anything! He stacked something on top and by then, it was ruined. I was irritated he did not ask if we were done and just assumed and took the best part of the meal away! The garlic knots!!! I really wanted to like it!
