| - Welp, this experience was so close to what my partner and I wanted it to be, but after the experience itself & reading the reviews on here, it's no surprise they are currently split down the middle w/ their stars.
My partner and I found a car on CarMax that we liked, but was tipped off to AutoTrader, and fell in love w/ a 2016 Ford Focus Titanium. We found one at Friendly Ford and made an appointment, w/ a clear understanding of our current credit and money saved. We sat down w/ Matt Jr. (friendliest face in the building), so we were happy w/ his demeanor and customer service, compared to the vibe we where getting from the other employees. Blah blah, did the test drive, LOVED it, did the credit check signed papers, initials here, talked monthly payments, options, etc. READY to pay, about an hour of being left alone, ready, he comes back and asks if we happen to have an extra $3,000 down on our already very large down payment. We give him the signal we don't like and will leave. He then gives us one more option before we leave..... A NEW CAR!! And somehow that was going to be cheaper then their "left field", out-of-nowhere, last-minute, even-after-being-approved offer!! The guy ACTUALLY gets us to to walk outside to look at new cars for two seconds before us insisting that we leave and take our money elsewhere. Matt Jr. was incredibly kind.
Previous reviews reference a "bank" approval AFTER the first bank approval that in truth is an OK from the big wigs and to see if their guy could have made a bigger better sale to which they can make more in commission on new car sales. That's how it felt and it clearly coincides w/ other reviews. The part that hurt for my partner and I the most is that we where approved and had signed papers, got insurance transferred, only to have them try to sell us a new car after being there for over three hours for a simple finance. MAJOR letdown for my family, which is closest to me. BTW We watched several other families walk out during or visit after them hearing offers being made. The tables are close enough to hear. Not cool.
