  • Excellent physician! Let me begin by saying that Dr. Bruce Sand, is in a league of his own on competence, integrity and judgment. Admittedly, I'm a bit particular as a patient/consumer. Yelp reviews have become an integral part of my decision making. In general, I find them to be accurate, but have seen first hand that they aren't always legit. After reading these reviews, I was apprehensive about taking my son Jacob to Dr. Bruce Sand. Jacob is 23 y/o, but due to his high-functioning Autism, I'm his medical power of attorney. Last year, I lost my job after taking FMLA to care for my mom after a rectal cancer dx. This left no choice but to use only Medicaid physicians. Historically, this has resulted in extremely subpar care/treatment and expectations low. My son's medical concerns were daunting, so I searched for a provider that took his insurance and had good reviews. My search was futile. Dr. Bruce Sand was close to home and I realized his low ratings were based on the conduct or attitudes of his front desk. They were indeed annoying and called excessively about submitting medical power of attorney information. Their calls being abnormally persistent at best. Social graces could also be better. Being on AHCCCS, I can't attest to the co-pay and deductible issues. That being said, we just left our third encounter with him and we couldn't be happier. The majority of physicians he's seen blindly are ignorant when it comes to appropriate interaction with Jacob. His Autism can result in social deficits that society is unfamiliar with. I've had my fair share of incidents where my rage comes out against ignorant people. No need for that with Dr. Bruce Sand. He has Aspergers, but is the kindest and smartest person I know. Dr. Bruce Sands interaction with Jacob was demonstrative of both compassion and being informed. He spoke with Jacob, not TO him. A skill any parent of a special needs "child" can attest to is sadly uncommon. He is absolutely a no nonsense, straight shooter, but is a consumate professional that takes pride in his work. Jacob loved him and that speaks volumes. I'm grateful Jacob's endoscopy and testing had a positive outcome. When reading reviews on Dr. Bruce Sand, I can attest to him being top notch. If you're seeking a friendship with the girls at the front desk of his practice, go elsewhere. He's board certified in Gastroenterology & Liver Disease and knows his stuff! If looking for an incredibly good Gastroenterologist, look no further than here. Dr. Bruce Sand is your guy!! Thank you Dr. Sand!
