  • This place is the artsy gem of Downtown Las Vegas in my opinion. We decided to check this place out while finishing up our evening stroll down Fremont Street (awesome experience as well). The entrance to the Container Park is guarded by this fire breathing praying mantis so prepare for scorching blast of heat in your face whenever it goes off and loud effects (NOTE: Not for the faint-of-heart. I always walk by praying it won't go off because it goes off unexpectedly and scared the crap out of me! Pardon my language). It startled myself and a couple of others around the area half to death.Once you're in the park, things are a little more calm. The decor and lighting of the place is just beautiful (you have to go at night to fully experience it). You don't feel like you are in Vegas anymore, the park blocks off the casinos and the bright lights. I definitely felt more safe and comfortable, I was definitely digging the vibe. There are many small art stores and bar/restaurants in this area. If you are hungry, check out Big Erns BBQ or if you want a small bite I recommend getting some jerky and nuts at JoJo's Jerky. This place is also a great place to just explore. There's live music on weekends and a fun play area for the kids. Make sure you go to the 3rd floor to get a pretty view of the park, it looks gorgeous. There is also a super tall slide in the middle of the park which my boyfriend and I decided to do (hey, it's not just for kids), It is definitely a fun, unique experience away from the stereotypical feel of Las Vegas. This place is wonderful and a great escape if you are looking to get away from the gambling and drinking for a bit. Definitely family-friendly!
