  • I moved into Plaza 550 in mid May after a move from Tampa to Phoenix for a new job. Prior to my trip to Phoenix to find a place to live, I was told by David, the property manager, that everyone who looks at the apartments loves them, and that the model looks just like the real apartments. I was skeptical, as most places tend to exaggerate their property. However, he was not lying! I did love the model I saw, and I have been extremely satisfied with my living experience so far. The apartment is well laid out, with no walls blocking the kitchen from the dining room. The ample space in the living room and dining area makes it very easy to entertain guests. The bedroom easily fits a queen bed, dresser, chest of drawers and a couple of nightstands. The walk in closet is fantastic, and all my clothes/purses fit beautifully. The bathroom is not attached to the bedroom, but this hasn't changed my opinion of the space. The toilet and shower are in their own room with a door, meaning the sink and mirror can be used even if someone is taking a shower. There are two storage closets. One across from the kitchen (it could use some shelves, but I bought some from The Container Store and made my own pantry) and a huge closet in the bathroom (which does have shelves, and could easily serve as a pantry with extra space to spare!). I was nervous about moving back into an apartment complex due to the normal annoyances of apartment living--noisy neighbors, lack of parking, a lack of care for trash in common areas, and slow/incompetent maintenance. I can proudly say NONE of those are a problem here! I haven't heard a peep from my neighbors, except when they say hello to me outside! There is seldom anyone at the pool, so no noise issues from this area either. Everyone has a covered parking spot (so nice) and I have yet to see all the visitor parking spots full. If this does become a problem, there's a side street that would easily accommodate extra visitors. The common areas are very clean and well maintained. Bob, the maintenance manager, is nothing but happy to help! I have had three minor maintenance requests so far, and they've taken care of it the very same day each time. David, the property manager, has been very easy to contact, friendly, helpful and welcomes feedback. I have had nothing but great experiences so far. The laundry room, though small (only 4 washers and dryers) is rarely busy, even on weekends. It does require quarters (which requires me to do a little planning ahead!) but management has said they are switching to a card payment system soon. The area of town is fantastic--lots of restaurants, close to downtown, and central to many grocery stores and shopping. I looked at a lot of places online, and I think the price is more than fair for the space, maintenance attentiveness, friendly neighbors, and an apartment complex where I feel very safe, even when coming home at night.
