| - Following the success of so many of their places, the dynamic Montreal duo (Zach Macklovitch and Nathan Ganage) opened up in Toronto, a copy of their hugely successful Apt.200 in Montreal.
The concept is really simple - it's a bar/lounge that looks like your apartment. You seamlessly transition between living room, dining room, kitchen, games room, etc.
Cocktails are reasonably priced. Not special however. But a good place to drink earlier on in the evening.
But....
Even though this place has only been open a short while, the lineups are insane if you get there after 9pm....yes 9pm.... and if you do, there's a cover charge as well. For me personally, i'd never wait in line for this place, nor pay cover, nor abide by the mandatory coat check. It's really a different vibe after 9pm. At which point it gets packed, gets filled with people wanting to be seen and bouncers getting frustrated. It's an annoying crowd to say the least. Since coat check is mandatory, it also means if you've got to leave to go downstairs, you're doing it without your coat.
At the end of the day, this place will do well. There's enough of a demand for the type of post 9pm crowd they're attracting for let's say the next 2 years. But if you're looking for an upscale lounge or used to better service in general, this is definitely not the place.
Funnily, this cozy apartment is really the home of the now closed swingers club 'Wicked'. Let your imagination run wild with that one.
