I gave the Red Door Spa at the Wigwam Resort 2 stars because of the really bad pedicure I got a few days ago. I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 because the Spa manager gave me a refund after seeing how my pedicure turned out.
This is the second time I've gone to a Red Door Salon and Spa. First time was the one in Scottsdale. I went for a pedicure then, too, and had the same thing happen. It was the worst pedicure (and most expensive) I've had in my entire life.
Both times, the person doing the pedicure painted all over my toes and cuticles vs. just my toe nails. The polish didn't last for more than a day, which isn't surprising since there were nicks (both times) in my polish as if the nail technician smudged it. Both pedicures were also painful vs. relaxing. The water was tepid even though I told her it wasn't very warm, she didn't do anything about it. She filed my toe nails crooked - some were round and some square and one was slanted. The person next to me this last time had a technician who asked her all kinds of questions about what she wanted but my person didn't say a word to me almost the entire time even when I volunteered what I wanted.
Paying $56 for a pedicure is quite expensive considering you can go to a local nail salon and get one for less than half of that amount. I expect a wonderfully relaxing experience and expect my toenails to come out looking amazing if I go to a spa. My local nail salon charges $25 and gives a 10 minute leg massage as part of that, plus my toenail polish looks amazing and lasts for weeks until I go back and they redo it. This is not the case at Red Door. Save your money and go to a local nail salon. You will be much happier and get a much better pedicure for a much better price.
