  • We ate at Bacchanal yesterday and spent three times as much. Two days ago we spent twice as much at Wicked spoon. We ate at Spice Market with a discount from travelzoo. Thanks goodness for the discount. Because if I had paid full price then a 1 star review would be more appropriate. Spice Market is overhyped, apparently. There's NO WAY that this buffet is anywhere near the same league as the other two we tried. At Bacchanal they had four salads I tried that were all excellent. I could have have enjoyed any one of them as a meal. At Spice Market there was basically a bowl of greens and a few bowls of vegetables so you could make your own salad, like you would at Sizzler, oooh, fancy.... not really. At the better two buffets they had Gelato, they even had Sugar-Free Chocolate Gelato at Wicked Spoon, and it was excellent. At Spice Market they had soft serve ice cream... which isn't even really ice cream it's basically cold, artificially flavored vegetable oil like what you'd get at McD's. Disgusting and not worth messing your diet up for. The carvers at Spice Market were rude and condescending. You had to wait in line for a HALF a piece of chicken. If you tried to serve yourself you got yelled at, WTF? The seafood, which I didn't try smelled really strong, like week old shrimp. My eyes started to water in fact when they nearly seated us near the seafood station and I asked to be moved. They had a Middle Eastern food section. They had Lamb on the skewer and off the skewer. Off the skewer looked older and possibly recycled. My wife and I each got some, but it was too rubbery to be chewed. One of the chicken dishes I tried was too dry to choke down, some of the grilled squash was tasteless, while the grilled zucchini in the salad bar was decent. At Bacchanal and Wicked Spoon EVERYTHING was cooked perfectly. The grilled chicken breast was so juicy I even went back for a second serving! The Peking duck had crispy skin... Truly talented chefs. Not correspondence cooking school dropouts. In the Asian section there were two odd looking dishes they called Chef's specials. Couldn't even tell us what kind of animal it was or how they cooked it? I suspect we were being experimented on. My overall impression was that this is a buffet where you can get a coupon and save some money, then pretend you're eating the same thing you'd get if you weren't so concerned about saving money. We had a limited time in Vegas, only got to hit three buffets (three tours & four shows). This place was a waste of time, left me unsatisfied and feeling gross. I ended up throwing out a lot the food that I wanted to enjoy, but the quality and the skill of the cooks just wasn't up to standard. Do yourself a favor and don't go. The other two I recommend highly if you have the few extra bucks. Maybe a little less drinking or gambling? I assume you have SOME disposable income coming to Vegas and reading buffet reviews. Want to enjoy the meal of a lifetime? It won't be done here.
