In all the years I'd lived in Cleveland, I'd never made it to Lake View. My mother and I would walk around old cemeteries when I was a child, and I've continued the fascination of how people glorify themselves, as well as honor and mourn those lost. We parked and got moving with no real direction or idea of where "attraction" plots were, specifically Haserot. We were there for maybe 2 hours, so many beautiful and haunting statues to see. Didn't make it into Garfield's tomb this time. There was a wedding and 2 funerals which it seemed people were respectfully staying clear of. The view from the damn was great, and such a unique find. Just when I was ready to give up finding the Haserot Angel and ready to leave, we found him. It was a little eerie and magnificent. Some people thing it's disrespectful to visit cemeteries as an attraction, but there is no other reason to have such grand tombs if not to be viewed in awe by the living. I'll return many times to see what else I can dig up, pun intended.
