| - This fabulous new brewery in Plaza Midwood boasts one of the most spacious taprooms in Charlotte, with two massive bars, an incredible number of taps, and tons of seating -- both inside and out. The airy and inviting space is gorgeous, and when you add in Catawba's incredible lineup of great brews, it's easy to see how this may soon become of the most popular breweries in the Queen City.
There are also a few hitches. Parking in the small onsite lot is extremely limited, so unless the owners come to some agreement with surrounding business owners, patrons may find themselves walking a fair distance on a Friday or Saturday night. Also, during my two recent visits, no food trucks were onsite, and there isn't a restaurant within walking distance. Lastly, the cornhole area is small, and sandwiched between the parking lot and the property fence, meaning it fills up quickly.
But the beer is great. IPA fans will love their wide selection, from the local namesake CLT to the wonderfully hoppy HOPness Monster. And of course, don't leave without trying their signature White Zombie Witbeer, There are also brown ales, ambers and small batch brews, not to mention a couple of crisp ciders, for those who need a change of pace.
With tons of space, great views of Uptown, and a fantastic selection of brews, Catawba Brewing's Charlotte taproom is on track to be one of the best places in the Queen City to kick back, meet up with friends, and sip some outstanding beer. Definitely worth a visit.
