I had a permanent bridge placed in Jan. Towards the end of March I started having sensitivity to cold drinks. I went back in to have my bridge checked and was told by the exam doctor I needed a root canal on the back tooth of the bridge. When I decided to do the bridge this possibility was not mentioned to me and I was frustrated when the exam doctor said root canal. He showed me my X-ray and said oh yea see there's a shadow. Stacy then came in and gave me a price quote and got me a prescription for antibiotic. This didn't set right with me. I felt very dismissed.
I listened to my gut and scheduled a second opinion elsewhere. Well you guessed it the new dentist told me based on my symptoms and X-rays she doesn't want to jump right to a root canal. She showed me on my X-rays that my tooth roots are right by my sinuses and she thinks there could be some pressure. She recommended we keep an eye on it. I should make note of any extended pain, swelling, soreness etc. I am livid/disappointed in Abbey Dental. I felt very dismissed during my exam. When I said is it common to have root canals the exam doc told me oh no not really. Which is fine but this possibility was never explained to me and would have weighed heavily on my decision between bridge or implant. I will never go back here, they are just after money and not the best treatment for the patient.
